Anton Bilchik Looks at Pancreatic Cancer Studies

It is no secret that scientists, doctors and researchers around the world are continuously conducting tests and studies in an effort to eliminate cancer for good. Dr. Anton Bilchik, Chief of Medicine and Gastrointestinal Research at the John Wayne Cancer Institute, is a part of this important population. Recently, a study conducted by the University of Colorado, Denver, found that a certain extract of bitter melon juice can restrict the ability of pancreatic cancer cells to get the energy they need to reproduce and spread. By keeping the cells from metabolizing glucose, researchers were able to show that the cells were destroyed in mouse models. The study is still in an early state and will need time and support to be furthered before human use, but the results thus far are encouraging.
