Anton Bilchik MD Analyzes Genetic Links to Colorectal Cancer

A new study published in Nature Genetics has found three new genetic links to colorectal cancer. Anton Bilchik MD cautions that the development of any cancer may be dependent on a multitude of factors, including diet and genetics. The study looked at 28,000 individuals and found that the three new variants may hold potential therapeutic targets. Researchers in Nashville, along with others from China, South Korea and Japan, analyzed over 5,000 colorectal cancer cases and over 9,000 control samples to identify novel colorectal cancer risk factors. These cases were compared to known variants identified from European population results.
