HealthCentral.com recently did a piece on North Dakota native, Heather Huss, and her unexpected life-altering encounter with gastric cancer. During their interview with the 33-year old, Heather explained how a routine checkup in 2014 ended up being a shocking revelation when genetic testing revealed she had a rare gastric cancer called hereditary diffuse gastric cancer (HDGC). To get additional insight into the condition, HealthCentral.com reached out to Dr. Anton Bilchik, in which he commented,

“Those who test positive for the gene — a mutation of the CDH1 gene — have about an 83 percent chance of developing the cancer at some point in their lives.”
